Tuesday 27th February – travel. Relax and walk **** Mojacar – cloudy/rainy start but sunny later.

Woke to cloudy skies with some light rain so it was time to move on with the original plan to look for a Mc Donald’s so I can post on my windsurfing GPS site. Soon made it to Aguilas but lost the coast road and ended up on a nice road through some barren hills. Found our way back to the coast passing the forgettable Garrucha and on to Mojacar and it didn’t look so nice with the sun not out but the campers like it as they can park right by the sea. Stopped by a beach shower and filled up the van with water before heading up a steep hill to Mojacar town which looked nice on the way up, a collection of white houses perched on a hill top. Luckily, we found a carpark before the streets got too narrow! It was a very steep walk up to the church, yet another one open most unusual for Spain! I went in while Mag stayed outside and made friends with a ginger cat with no tail:) We continued up to the Miridor which offered good views of the coast far below. We discovered it is a Bank Holiday tomorrow so decided to head back to Garrucha Lidl for cake etc. It was then back to Mojacar seafront which is very long and there are lots more English campers than we have seen further north. We park up at the next beach where we had two nights last year for lunch. After relaxing for a bit, the wind was picking up and I was tempted to go windsurfing but nobody else was about and it was a fraction off so we decided to walk back into Mojacar - the walk there is great as there is an up and down path along the cliffs:) By the time we reach the beach the wind has switched 180 degrees and dropped so it was lucky I didn’t rig. We walked a mile along the water’s edge - the only people on the beach, with the waves washing up the sand and the sun now out so a jumper had to come off. It was then back along the prom checking out a couple of the Chinese Euro stores, there are a few here each selling a huge selection of crap!!! Mag thought about getting another Bum Bag to replace the one that was stolen in Tossa but the quality was rubbish:( Back at the van knackered it was too near tea for cake so had our take on Chinese surprise a bit later (frozen prawns and veg from Lidl with a few extras, noodles, Chinese five spice and soy sauce!) and had a bit of a sunset. Weather supposed to be iffy tomorrow then really windy Thursday so not looking great for windsurfing!
